  • Robert D. Boyd

In 1975, Mr. Boyd graduated from John Marshall Law School and began to work for the DuPage County Public Defender's Office. He remained a felony trial attorney in the Public Defender’s Office for 10 years. He established a successful family law practice during that time and, in 1995, joined The Stogsdill Law Firm, P.C., specializing in custody trials and financial matters of a complex nature. Mr. Boyd has tried over 150 domestic relations cases involving business valuations, custody and modifications of custody issues, and complex financial structures in family law.

Mr. Boyd has over thirty-five years’ experience being an effective litigator and is a determined proponent of his clients’ interests, which gives him a decisive edge in effective settlement negotiations in family law cases. To date, Mr. Boyd has settled cases ranging from simple cases to multi-million dollar estates involving complex finances. Mr. Boyd has been effective while working with business experts and forensic accounting investigators at finding hidden assets, and millions of dollars have been added to estates, resulting in larger awards for clients, due to his investigative work.

Mr. Boyd is heavily involved in the local legal community. He has served on the Illinois State Bar Association as a DuPage County delegate and has served on many committees at the DuPage County Bar Association, such as the criminal law committee, the professional responsibility committee, and in numerous capacities for the family law committee. He was also recently appointed to oversee the DuPage County Evaluation Program and is involved in a committee for said program to oversee and evaluate the program’s rule changes.

Mr. Boyd spent eight years at Elmhurst College as a division III assistant football coach. He is married with one adult child and three younger children, and Mr. Boyd enjoys cooking and taking culinary classes.
